Description

Principle of the Assay: Human Fibulin-3/EFEMP1 ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immunesorbent assay technology. A specific for Fibulin-3/EFEMP1 has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards(Expression system for standard: CHO; Immunogen sequence: Q18-F493) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection specific for Fibulin-3/EFEMP1 is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the Human Fibulin-3/EFEMP1 amount of sample captured in plate.

Background/Introduction: EGF-containing fibulin-like extracellular matrix protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EFEMP1 gene. This gene encodes a member of the fibulin family of extracellular matrix glycoproteins. Like all members of this family, the encoded protein contains tandemly repeated epidermal growth factor-like repeats followed by a C-terminus fibulin-type domain. This gene is upregulated in malignant gliomas and may play a role in the aggressive nature of these tumors. Mutations in this gene are associated with Doyne honeycomb retinal dystrophy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode the same protein have been described
